I am assuming most if not all of you want to do health admin, so how can you perhaps lessen your bureaucracy cost footprint if we are to have any hope of reducing overall spending in the US?
Your essay for this week is write about the admin state in healthcare, Brooks offers a quote that “over a third of all healthcare costs go to administration”.
He further goes on to reference that all bureaucracy costs $3 trillion a year which will rival healthcare alone at roughly 17% of GDP. So, this means if healthcare is 17% of GDP and bureaucracy is another 17%, then just these two account for 34% of GDP (ok a little double counting there if 1/3 of healthcare (5.67%) is admin cost, then really 28.3% of GDP).
