Prompt:
Students who successfully complete this course should be able to evaluate supervisory tools, skills, and functions used to meet the challenges of today’s work environment. Using information in Chapters 5 though 9, develop an outline of content for an introductory new supervisor training, a tool, which includes key components related to the tools, the skills, and the functions a supervisor needs to learn and know about, even at a high level, in the first few months on the job in the following areas:
Diversity Goals Organizing and Authority
Problem Solving and Decision Making
Quality and Productivity
Be creative with your outline; include what you feel would be important in an introductory new supervisor training and why. The outline should have at least five major areas of training (the bullet points above) and then tools, skills, and functions for each. This outline will be used as an artifact to assess the course competency of evaluate supervisory tools. The explanations should be thorough and reference the text; one line descriptions will not suffice. Post your outline for the class to review and to provide feedback. This is a great opportunity to exchange opinions and share points of view while referencing content from the text, as well as the beginning to build your supervisory tool box.
