Instructions:
Initial Post
After reading “Chapter 5: Models of Argument?” in Understanding Argument in a Post-Truth World (the textbook) and completing the Chapter 5 Quiz, follow the directions below:
Do you believe arguments are more persuasive when they follow a logical structure? What are the necessary components of that structure?
Compare the three models presented. What are their similarities and differences in creating compelling arguments?
How do you think the use of implied warrants and backing influences the credibility of arguments?
Do you think arguers should clearly state their warrant and backing in each argument? Why or why not?
If a warrant is implied, how does that affect the way a person can or should argue against it?
Be sure your responses are around 250 words total.
Response Post
By Sunday, please reply to two of your classmates mentioning:
Can you add anything to the Initial poster’s responses?
Do you agree with the Initial Poster’s opinions on warrants and backing? Why or why not?
Be sure your responses are around 100 words each.
