Research Article Analysis   Due August 15                                                                                                       Students
will review and analyze a peer-reviewed research article approved by the
instructor. Either a quantitative or qualitative research study may be
reviewed. Ideally, the article will relate to the major assignment for this
course which in turn links to the capstone. Using criteria specific to the
particular methodology, students will analyze the article and discuss: 1) the
research question and hypothesis; 2) the study design; 3) data analysis; 4)
conclusions; 5) clinical applications; and 6) ethics issues.
Students will consider the following questions in their analysis:
1) Is the design appropriate for the research question or hypothesis? 2) Are
the population and sampling techniques appropriate?; 3) Were issues of
reliability and validity addressed, including the adequacy of the controls
used? 4) Are the researcher’s conclusions robustly supported by the data?; 5) What
alternative interpretations can be drawn from the data?
This paper will be 6 -8 pages, double-spaced, using a minimum of 5
– 6 peer-reviewed sources from the past 5 years. APA formatting and citations
are mandatory as the failure to cite sources appropriately constitutes
plagiarism. The cover page and reference page do not count towards page totals.
