For Assignment 5, please choose one reason that so many people began moving to cities at the end of the 19h century.  The reason could be changes in infrastructure, economics, culture or public policy.  Once you choose a topic, you will then need to explain the following:
1. What is your reason? Why did your topic lead to city growth?
2. What groups would likely to be attracted to the city because of your choice (ie. immigrants, internal migration,farmers etc.)
3. Is there a downside or negative aspect of the topic you choose?
Once a topic has been chosen, you cannot choose the same topic.  Therefore I urge you to choose a topic sooner rather than later.  You are only limited by your imagination. Feel free to look at Chapters 18 and 19 for ideas as well as the online readings, lecture notes and Powerpoints.  If you have trouble finding a topic, please be sure to contact me with enough time to allow me to reply
Being professional, you will also need to respond to two other students and explain why your topic is more important than theirs.
You must have title your original thread with your topic and it must be obvious so that other students can see your topic.
