Leadership Practicum B Final Assignment: Final Leader Development Paper
(5-6 pages, 12-point font, double space, you may answer question by question or essay format)
1
Part I: Insight and Reflection (approximately 4 pages double spaced)
a. About YOU
Having completed this year of the Leadership Practicum, you have pursued different
kinds of self-awareness (values, emotions, strengths, body) through a variety of
techniques (feedback, reflection, embodied awareness, discussion, assessment, etc.)
Discuss briefly one thing you have learned about yourself during this course that you did
not know, or were not aware of, before. How does this insight change you and factor
into your own leadership development?
b. About LEADERSHIP
We have also explored various capabilities required of leadership and the underlying
factors that make people more or less effective in these capabilities.
Discuss briefly one thing you have learned about the practice of leadership through our
discussions, readings, and assignments. What does this insight mean for you personally
as you develop leadership?
c. About your PURPOSE
Consider the presentation you gave on our last day of class as well as your preparation
for that class. What led you to choose your topic and how connected did you feel to
your larger purpose? What was connecting about it (or not connecting)?
Consider when in the last three months have you felt most connected to your larger
purpose. Describe the moment. Return to that moment, access memories, senses etc.
Where were you, what people were you with, what were you doing? What was it about
that moment that made you feel so connected? What most connects you with your
sense of purpose?
What can you do to create or access this sense of purpose in your daily life? (Note: you
can connect to it through your behaviors/tasks/jobs, and you can also connect to it
through a symbol or ritual that keeps you reminded of your purpose)
How does your unique sense of larger purpose influence what you want to do in terms
of your leadership development?
