1. Locate the “Sample Academic Argument” under the “Additional Materials” tab on Canvas (feel free to type the rest of the activity on the “Sample Academic Argument” or on a separate document).
2. Identify the thesis statement.
3. Identify the claim and the reasons/supporting points (these should be in the thesis statement).
4. Identify the topic and transition sentences of each body paragraph.
5. Identify which reason/supporting point each body paragraph covers.
6. Identify where the conclusion emphasizes the importance of the topic.
7. In one paragraph, explain how well the sample argument follows the necessary structure for an academic argument (explained in the presentation) and how strong the argument is, overall.
