As the workplace becomes more diverse, individuals tend to acculturate versus assimilate. In these situations, you will often hear more than one language in the workplace. Some organizations have attempted to use an “English only” policies only to have it challenged in the court system under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act. To feed the issue further, the United States does not have an official language. How does an organization create an inclusive environment with multiple languages being spoken? Is this something organizations should concern themselves with? If done within the limits of the law, should organizations consider an “English Only” policy? Please explain.
