Course: Psychopharmacology of Substance Use Disorders
You are to pick an area related to substance use and write a 6 page paper on the topic. Your paper should be written in APA format and include the use and utilization of scholarly resources.  A general outline for the paper could include:
Introduction
Importance of the topic chosen – why is it important to know more about this topic?
Why others should be just as concerned – what impact does this topic have on individuals, families, communities?
Summarize the research pertaining to this topic
Identify resources/tools/programs related to this topic
What is lacking in the research available about this topic
Conclusion
Some examples of topics: substance use in families, poverty and substance use, prevention, a specific treatment approach, recovery, effects of the legalization of marijuana, any population group (adolescents, older adults, individuals experiencing homelessness, etc) and the connection to substance use, policy, proposed legislation, any process or behavioral addiction (gambling, gaming, sex, etc). 
PRESENTATION:
In addition to your paper, you will be asked to do a 5 slide (minimum) presentation with audio summarizing the content detailed your paper. Be sure to focus on new and emerging information about your topic to best inform your colleagues. As future professionals, you will be called upon to speak about your various areas of expertise. This is an opportunity for you to practice.
