This is it! All of your hard work from the past two semesters comes together here.
The body of your paper will include a literature review, in which you display your critical thinking skills to analyze research quality. You will share your own hypothesis and methods, again thinking critically about the strengths and weaknesses of your own research. You will share your results, and interpret them for your reader. Think critically about your own work and explore any bias or shortcomings your research might have.
You will demonstrate the interdisciplinary nature of your research, and explain how your research is relevant to your field and the broader intellectual community (i.e. why your research matters outside of this course).
Your paper must be written professionally and demonstrate strong written communication skills (clear, concise, proper grammar and tone, etc.).
You will likely include appendices (charts, diagrams, etc.) plus a cover/title page, abstract, indices, and references. APA format must be used for this submission.
How long should your paper be? Long enough to effectively do all of the above. This truly varies from subject-to-subject, and student-to-student, but you can generally expect the body of your final paper to be between 3000-5000 words (so, excluding the abstract, indices, references, etc.)
Professors feedback on last submission
Dear Reem:
Here are some thoughts about issues to address in your revision for the final submission.
Your literature review is barely two pages. That’s partly a result of havings a small number of sources mentioned. The summaries of the articles are general and vagues. Focus on finding more sources to deepen your understanding of the topic and on providing more detail about the core findings in these studies. The expectation is that there will be at least 15 sources cited in the document and included in your references section.
While you are right that the low response rate makes it difficult to draw firm conclusions, I think that your discussion makes some reasonable inferences about the meaning of the results, especially when you note the surprising outcome that many of the respondents did not rate the value of the technology highly.
See the margin comments for suggestions about additional issues to address in the methods and results section. Also, add a copy of your survey as an appendix so that it is clear what questions were asked.
