Be sure to view (if possible), listen, and read the speech using your critical thinking skills. *This assignment requires a three-point thesis statement. Note: Your thesis should not focus on rhetorical appeals, like ethos, logos, and pathos.
Essay Outline
Paragraph 1 (Intro): Identify the title of the speech and summarize it. Include any background information you find important. Write a three-point thesis that makes 3 claims about the overall message of the speech. Please see the Sample Thesis Statements below.
Paragraph 2: Discuss the first point in your thesis in a few sentences. Then quote at least one supporting detail to develop your perspective. Paragraph 3: Discuss the second point in your thesis in a few sentences. Then quote at least one supporting detail to develop your perspective. Paragraph 4: Discuss the third point in your thesis. Then quote at least one supporting detail that strengthens your point. Paragraph 5: (Conclusion) In your conclusion, write a “thesis restatement,” and then discuss the significance of each point in your thesis. Then link your points to the overall message of the speech.
