Hi, I’m so sorry to spring this on to you. I just saw on my syllabus that I need

Hi, I’m so sorry to spring this on to you. I just saw on my syllabus that I needed to write a short paper along with the presentation. Here’s the prompt. Academic Sources
Academic journal articles and chapters from books written by scholars are considered academic sources. Encyclopedias, including wikis, do not count as academic sources. Blogs, videos, and other web sources are only academic sources when created by scholars in their area of expertise.
Grading
You will be graded on the clarity of your thesis; how well you support your argument with references to the readings, the films, and outside academic sources, if any; how effectively you use sources; and the quality of your writing. I will consider spelling, grammar, and style, but the most important thing is your ability to express ideas effectively. “A” work is analytical, identifies patterns, and establishes the social and historical significance of shows. Good criticism addresses cultural representation and social context. “B” work is descriiptive rather than analytical. See the grading rubric on p. 6 for more details.
Short Paper
You will do one short paper during the semester, 2-3 single-spaced pp. (1200-1500 words, not counting bibliography). Include only sources not listed on the syllabus in a bibliography. Outside sources include academic sources, interviews with creative personnel who worked on the show. To prepare you will have to watch the program episode ahead of time, plus another episode in some prompts.
Use Mittell’s discussion of complex comedy to evaluate the narrative characteristics of a complex comedy not discussed in the reading: Fleabag, Russian Doll, Dead to Me, What We Do in the Shadows, Bojack Horseman
You must watch an episode of the chosen program.
If you choose this topic, specify which of these programs you’d use.
