WRITE MY ESSAY

In this interview, you will choose someone you know to interview around the ideas of community and identity. Choose someone between the ages of 15-any age and come up with 6-8 questions that are broad enough to understand how they see themselves and how they are thinking about the word community. Who is a part of their community? Where is their community? What is home to them? You will then do an analysis of their responses and come up with 2-3 themes that came up that helps you understand their conceptualization of themselves within “community.” You will tie your analysis to 2-3 course references.
You may choose to record the interview with their permission or take notes if that is more helpful to you.
In your 4-5 page paper, respond to the following prompts:
1) Give some context about who you interviewed, how you know them, and a BRIEF summary of some of the questions you asked them.
2) Do not give a detailed response to each of the questions, but based on the questions above, what are 2-3 themes that come up around how your interviewee conceptualized “community” in relation to their identities? For example, do their responses center around a particular “place”? a group of people? an emotional connection to a place? (Think about some of the ideas that we have already discussed so far in class and in your readings) Given those themes, what is the evidence? For example, if they mention a group of people, what is it that they said that ties this group of people to who they are? You can provide brief quotes as anecdotal evidence. 3) Provide connections to at least 2 course readings using APA citations in the text and in a reference section at the end of the paper. You will want to use the readings to back up your claims as well. How do your interviewee’s responses connect to what research says about community and identity? These connections should be thoughtful and show your depth of understanding of the texts.
4) Lastly, provide a brief reflection of how your interviewee’s responses made you think about your own ideas about community and identity? Were there tensions that came up? Did your own identity and ideas influence your analysis or understanding of their ideas?
