A theoretical framework is part of a research project. It is akin to a review of the related literature; it requires you to analyze and determine theories that are relevant to your research topic. These lay the foundation for your research topic and question.
Create a Theoretical Framework for your Research Topic using one of the theories you’ve learned in this module:
Anomie & GST, Formatting requirements
Each theoretical framework should be 1,200 words minimum. This yields about 5 pages of body content. You are allowed to go over without incurring any penalty.
Use APA style for in-text citations and the reference list. Required sections
Title Page (does not count towards the minimum word requirement)
Introduction (about 200 words)
Body (about 800 words):
Summary of chosen theory.
Introduce the research topic and the explanation of how the chosen theory can be used to study the research topic.
Brief explanation of how others have studied the research topic using other theories.
Detailed explanation of how the chosen theory can be used to study the research topic. This is where you will align the concepts from your theory and the criminogenic risk or protective factors (review the assignment Research Topic).
Conclusion (about 200 words)
Reference List (does not count towards the minimum word requirement)
Required sources
For each theoretical framework, you are required to include at least six (6) peer-reviewed journal articles related to the chosen theory of the module and your research topic. This could include the articles I assigned as reading materials (not the study guide).
You are allowed to use other additional reliable sources, including the assigned criminology study guide. Ultimately, make sure that you have at least six (6) peer-reviewed journal articles.
Grading
The theoretical frameworks will be graded using the Rubric for Theoretical Framework.
Late assignments will incur a 5% late penalty for every late calendar day. Turnitin: Turnitin is a plagiarism-prevention service that checks submitted documents for unoriginal content and content that is generated by an Artificial Intelligence third-party service or site (AI-generated content).
Recommendation to avoid academic misconduct: Always attempt to submit your work ahead of the deadline. This will provide you with time to re-write and re-submit if your work contains a large amount of unoriginal content or a high percentage of content generated by AI.
