Purpose Statement: The purpose of this study is to provide recommendations to improve the practice of enrollment advising for online students at National University in San Diego, CA.
Problem Statement: The problem was that 45% of online learners at National University reported dissatisfaction with the enrollment advising process during the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 academic years, indicating a need for more inclusive and supportive advising practices.
Despite efforts to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), many online learners at National University still face barriers during the enrollment process that can impact their educational outcomes. These barriers may include a lack of personalized support services, cultural insensitivity, or inadequate resources for differently-abled individuals. This study seeks to identify these challenges and develop mechanisms to create a more inclusive and supportive enrollment advising program.
I believe this research will provide valuable insights and practical strategies for improving the enrollment advising system, ultimately fostering a more inclusive and equitable educational environment for all online students.
