Getting Started
Your journal is your opportunity to reflect on your experiences at your practicum. It is meant to help develop your skills of self-reflection, so that once you have successfully completed this program, you are able to continue to practice a process of self-monitoring and personal reflection, as these are integral behaviors of a social worker. As you are writing, reflect on the notes and feedback you receive from your supervisor. Your reflection should include the theoretical frameworks that you and your supervisor have discussed and why those frameworks are pertinent to the activities, strategies, or interventions that you use in your practice. You also should note how you are incorporating and demonstrating Christ-like attitudes, values, worldviews, and ethical and professional behavior, or, if you feel like you are not, how can you do so in the future Continue to consider the interaction between the Head, Heart, and Hand when you write, as an awareness of the connections between these aspects of your practice will be central to your success as a social worker.
